Rit, What is it good for! Absolutely nothing.

Well, j/k

Rits are complicated, they are good at several, they can mass blind in PvE, they can be party protector, they are good at party healing. Rits are good at party job while monks are good at individual.

Like Silver Fang said ritualist can do so many different things . I run mine as a ritual lord communing healing support with some damage . Or run solo but since you are just getting started I would play around with it some until you get where you are able to cap some elites.
I started mine with communing and channeling so I could have some healing and do some quick damage. My guild mate ran his as a straight healing rit .
You will just have to play different type builds and find which ones work best for you.
